Having a doula sounds good, but I think I might want an epidural ... I'm not sure whether I want a "natural" birth.
A Birth Years doula will be there to serve you, not to push an agenda. She'd be glad to help you explore and practice pain management and coping skills, if you'd like, but she will whole-heartedly support your choices during labor.
What's with the "Christian" part? Are you a church group?
The Birth Years is an independent, privately-owned company; we are not affiliated with any church or denomination. We use "Christian" in our description to communicate the principles underlying how our Team approaches our lives and our work. It is our goal to honor each life we touch, and to treat each person with dignity and respect. We are happy to serve women and families from any faith or cultural background.
I’m not religious at all. Can I come to The Birth Years?
Yes, absolutely.
I’ve known / worked with other Christians. Are you like them?
This is an important question but a difficult one to answer. People call themselves Christians for many different reasons. We hope, of course, that your experience was a positive one, but we know that's not always the case. Some of what is done in the name of Christianity is sad, wrong, or downright repulsive.
The best way to find out what we're like (as Christians or as birth professionals) is to come meet with us and get to know us for ourselves.
